News From Violet Bleu October

Lots going on since we last posted. We've switched gears quickly and the snow has officially already fallen.
We have cleaned up and moved out lots of inventory. The building we are currently in is up for sale. We will be packing up as soon as we have some indication that it will be sold.
In the mean time we are OPEN and looking to help you SAVE. We have been making lots of customers happy by offering deep discounts. Holidays are fast approaching and you can't miss this opportunity to SAVE BIG. We have holiday theme gifts, toys, games, ladies hand bags and lots of unique gift items.

CANIDA OLD HOME DAY

Looks like another weekend of New England weather. Due to the rain forecast for Saturday, the folks in Candia have decided to move their Old Home Day to SUNDAY.
Violet Bleu will be CELEBRATING at the Candia Old Home Day at Moore Park from 11:00 - 5:00 on SUNDAY August 30th. What a great way to end our summer than to share the day with family and friends!

I confess I could not resist closing the doors an extra day this week to enjoy the two most gorgeous days of summer so far! Since I have missed a few sunny days due to work, I decided I could not forgo this week especially with the hot, humid, rainy forecast we have in front of us! Summer Games

Okay the weather is definitely not cooperating. And we've waited so long for summer to arrive. So all our plans for outdoor activities full of sunshine and warmth now have to be reevaluated! The state of the weather is all we can focus on!

So we sit and think what can we do with the kids during all of this wetness. Games and Crafts right?
If you are in need of some activities with the kids come visit us for games you can do at home, on vacation and even at the restaurant because lets face it...eating is just as good as any activity I can think of in light of the dreariness.
We do not have supplies to build the arc you may be contemplating but a good game we have! And we promise not to bring up the weather.......

Gift Idea For A Special Friend

Some time ago someone special introduced me to this wonderful bracelet that was not only functional but had great meaning behind it. I am speaking of the Mel's Bracelet. If you don't own one and don't know what they are about then you need to discover their website at http://www.friendsofmel.org/
The story of Mel's bracelets started with Mel's habit and pleasure to give little gifts to people she met while receiving chemotherapy at Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center. As a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines, she had many colleagues who would bring her souvenirs from abroad. Shortly after Mel passed away, those who received the bracelets as gifts began wearing them in her honor. Others started asking how they could do the same. A friend of Mel's put them in a basket at a popular meeting place. She attached a sign that read: "Mel's Bracelets...please take one and leave a donation for the Breast Cancer Research Fund at MGH". The bracelets went like wildfire! In October 2005, Mel's friends flew to Istanbul, Turkey, to order 1,000 bracelets. Their original goal was to raise $5,000. Since then, thousands of the bracelets have been sold and nearly $4,000,000 has been raised to support cancer research. Mel's bracelet has become an outward sign that continues to give hope and inspiration to all who wear it.

It's A Small World After All

I just spent a wonderful vacation with my family in Virginia. While we were out on a dolphin tour someone on the boat made a comment on the baseball cap I was sporting. Come to find out these folks were from Auburn NH which is the town next to ours. They also had a relative that lived on our street.
When I returned back to work that very same week a women came in and inquired about a t-shirt that I was wearing with the name of the city I grew up in. Come to find not only did she live there as well but she grew up on the very same road....now that is just crazy weird!
It always seems when we are far away from home we inevitable run into someone we are connected to. But traveling or not it is really wonderful to meet and talk with folks about the places and people we share in common!

A Bit About Our Beginnings

Over two years ago we opened Violet Bleu Gifts. The story began with an old family camp house that we wanted to utilize. In the craziness of life we were juggling family and homes when I realized I needed to get a gift with not enough time to get it done. This is when I thought of how wonderful it may be to share with our community the gift...the gift of time. Since that thought our family has been working to bring customer service where you can not find it in the bigger warehouse stores. We strive to bring quality and unique items that won't break your budget.

Meet Violet Bleu

Our gift shop is in fact not a pet shop. But Violet our little brown eyed girl inspired our name. We adopted her a few years back along with her sister and our older dog Sammy watches over them. They are quite the threesome and full of personality.
Pets give unconditionally and the gift of thoughtfulness is something I know brings a smile to even the grumpiest of faces!

Violets In Bloom

Spring is officially in bloom! Thank goodness for that! All around Violet Bleu we have bunches of violets popping up on the lawn. We are not sure how they got there and this is the first flower ever to grow wild in our fields (beyond those beautiful dandelions) we are hoping that this is a telling sign from the gods above...what it means...mmmm?!
